Professional Information

Dr. Onstott is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and the Assistant Director of Immersive Learning and Innovation at the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences, Keigwin School of Nursing.  Dr. Onstott obtained a BSN from The University of Connecticut and a DNP from The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences specializing in Executive Nursing Leadership.  Dr. Onstott has been an RN since 2002. Her bedside nursing experience has included medical-surgical, mental health, orthopedics, renal and progressive care. Dr. Onstott has nursing leadership experience as a Clinical Coordinator, Nurse Manager, and has served as the Magnet Program Director for Flagler Hospital St. Augustine leading the organization through their third reaccreditation in 2017.  As the Coordinator of Clinical Education at Flagler Hospital, Dr. Onstott was instrumental in the strategic advancement and training of the LPN-RN Team model of nursing practice while directing and instructing the education and training of new medical-surgical and behavioral nurse personnel. After receiving her DNP, Dr. Onstott joined the Keiser University nursing education team at the Daytona Florida campus as the Basic Adult Health Instructor. Dr. Onstott is an active member of the Florida Nurses Association and the Florida Nurse Coalition working towards improving working conditions for nurses and decreasing workplace violence.
